- Set a number for each letter, A to Z, in the grid.
- Hit Save. Your cipher appears in the grid on every calculator, marked with a ✦, and works just like the built-in ones.

What is a custom cipher?
A cipher is just a rule that gives every letter a number. The built-in ciphers, like English Ordinal, Jewish, and Sumerian, each assign their values a different way. A custom cipher lets you set the 26 values yourself, whether you want to recreate one you have seen elsewhere or make up your own and see what words match.

How do I create my own gematria cipher?
Give your cipher a name, then set a number for each letter A to Z. You can start from an existing cipher and tweak it, or type every value yourself. Hit Save and it joins the cipher grid in every calculator.
Can capital letters have their own values?
Yes. Turn on "Give capital letters their own values" and a second grid appears for lowercase a to z, so a capital letter can score differently from its lowercase form. Leave it off and both cases share the same value, which is how most ciphers work.
Where are my custom ciphers saved?
On your device, in your browser. There is no account and nothing is uploaded. They stay private to this browser, so they will not show on another device unless you export them to a file and import them there, and clearing your browser data removes them.
Can I use my custom ciphers on another device?
Yes. Export a cipher from the list to download it as a small file, then open this page on the other device or browser and use Import to load it. You can also export all your ciphers at once as a backup.
Do my custom ciphers work in all the calculators?
Yes. Once saved, a custom cipher appears in the grid on the main, English, Simple, Jewish, and Biblical calculators, marked with a small ✦, and works exactly like the built-in ciphers.
Can I edit or delete a custom cipher?
Yes. Each cipher in the list on this page has its own Edit and Delete buttons. Edit loads the cipher back into the builder so you can change the values and save over it.
Is the custom cipher feature free?
Completely free, with no account or sign-up. Most gematria tools lock custom ciphers behind a paid membership; here it is open to everyone.
